FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
{CTS} creative thriftshop is very excited to announce that artist Jeremy Dean has been invited to Berlin this summer (July 8th- July 10th 2010) to take part in an event focusing exclusively on green and socially responsible fashion, lifestyle and culture.
THEKEY.TO celebrates its third edition with the motto ACCELERATION. This concept aims to provoke a new perspective on green products. No longer are they an economic side issue, but instead they are innovative, breaking the boundaries both technologically and aesthetically.
With an increasing number of sustainable businesses, growing consumer interest in sustainable consumption and an encouragement of ecological ideas in the free market economy, the green movement is now in a mode of ACCELERATION towards a merging with the mainstream. Nevertheless, this growth is closely related to a certain deceleration, namely the deceleration of industrial production and consumer behavior.
With a fine selection of brands and an intense program including a fashion show, the already legendary Closing Party and the THEKEY.TO ACADEMY, a six days in-depth program on sustainable fashion with high profile speakers, THEKEY.TO is a proclamation to the momentum towards an era where coolness and a strong sense of quality and responsibility are naturally interlinked.
THEKEY.TO ACCELERATION features New York artist, Jeremy Dean and his series “Back To The Futurama.” In partnership with the gallery {CTS} creative thriftshop, THEKEY.TO will display Jeremy’s artwork consisting of scale models of Cadillac Escalades and HUMMER H2 turned horse-drawn cart. His most recognised work from this series however, is the full-scale realisation of this idea, where he converted a real HUMMER H2 into a horse drawn carriage known as the CEO Stagecoach. He unveiled his work with a public performance where live horses pulled the HUMMER CEO Stagecoach around Central Park in New York earlier this year.
Jeremy’s work makes a strong statement against an unsustainable lifestyle and stands perfectly alongside our own ideas to provoke a new perspective on consumption. We at THEKEY.TO are really impressed with his work and are thrilled to have him on board!
###
about the artist: Jeremy Dean has built a reputation for exploring the American dream and human progress through art. Deconstructing and re-contextualizing iconic symbols of power and wealth, his work addresses social, political, economic and cultural issues.
about the organzation: THEKEY.TO was successfully launched in July 2009. It began with the vision of an international team of interdisciplinary professionals who decided to give birth to the first international event for green fashion, sustainable lifestyle and culture in Berlin. They brings together twice a year, the most innovative and contemporary brands of the international green fashion and design scene, brands at the leading edge in terms of successfully merging style and a responsible approach.
