FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

{CTS} creative thriftshop is proud to announce that artist Eric Doeringer will participate in Printed Matter's fifth annual NY Art Book Fair, November 5th-7th at MoMA PS1 in Long Island City, Queens. Free and open to the public, the fair has garnered an excellent reputation for packing it's rafters with thousands of visitors and over 200 exhibitors, booksellers, independent publishers, artists, antiquarian dealers, all comfortably filling the three floors of P.S. 1’s cavernous space.

To much excitement Doeringer will be exhibiting some of his most recent works from his Conceptual reCreation Series which has been his focus since 2008. Here for the first time he will display his most recent work a series of f ourteen offset prints entitled "Throwing three balls in the air to get a straight line (after John Baldessari) (2010)" in which the artist some forty years later recreates photographs of his own attempts at the titular challenge.

Also with much anticipation the first view in it's entirety "I Went (after On Kawara)" (2010) will be on hand-all 400 pages of it! This amassing of a year's work, a daily meditation, displays in each page a complex relationship between an artist and his environment as well as highlights the obsessive nature in which one feels anxiety about leaving a record that one was here.

Three of the artist self published books will also be on hand; "The Xeroxed Book" (2010) recently exhibited at the The Volunteer Lawyer for the Arts, Art & Law Residency Exhibition this past August. As well as artnet's Must Buy Holiday Shopper's pick "Some Los Angeles Apartment (after Ed Ruscha)" (2009 ) and, "Real Estate opportunities (after Ed Ruscha)" (2009).

                                                                     ###

about the artist: Eric Doeringer received a BA in Visual Art from Brown University, an MFA from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, and currently lives and works in Brooklyn. Much of his work deals with the relationship between the original and the copy.  He has sold “Bootleg” copies of contemporary art on the streets of Chelsea, printed fake Art Basel VIP cards, created a tongue-in-cheek “fan site” dedicated to Matthew Barney, and embroidered the “Polo” logo by hand onto generic shirts.  Recently, Doeringer has recreated several books by Ed Ruscha and works by Conceptual artists such as Sol LeWitt, On Kawara, and Lawrence Weiner. Doeringer has had solo exhibitions at {CTS} Creative Thriftshop (NY), Apex Art (NY), Katharine Mulherin Contemporary Art Projects (Toronto, Canada), and Another Year In LA (CA) and has exhibited in group shows at venues including MUSAC (Spain), The Currier Musuem (NH), The Bruce Museum (CT), Albright College (PA), and Muhlenberg College (PA). Doeringer also curated “The Matthew Barney Show” - an exhibition of Matthew Barney fan art and ephemera - at Jack the Pelican (NY) and boca (San Francisco). In 2007, Doeringer received a production grant from the Whitney Museum’s IPO program.
