FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE We are proud to announce the participation of The Fanatastic Nobodies in the global phenomenon art happening, Pecha Kucha Night. Held on the Bowery at the New Museum as part of a larger the three day event series about all things creative in Berlin. It is a celebration of 20 years of freedom, change and creativity by bringing the city’s top designers, filmmakers, musicians and artists, it is a city with an extraordinary history. It’s the source of crazy, ingenious and innovative ideas and the place where the past, present and future flow into one another. Audiences can be sure that they will experience a bit of everything, which frees them from the straightjacket of their own expectations. Even though things can and do get serious at times, a good Pecha Kucha evening is a joy ride through a most diverse array of human culture. Day 3, Thursday, April 2 As a cultural metropolis, Berlin now competes on an international level. “Berlin is the breeding ground for a design community with international vitality,” wrote UNESCO in 2006, when it designated the capital an official “City of Design.” 5–6 pm "Pecha Kucha": Berlin and New York artists and designers present themselves and their work. * Robert Eysoldt (http://www.create-berlin.de): About Create Berlin * Susanne Philippsson, Designerin (http://www.philippson.org) *Flip Sellin, Designer (http://www.coordination-berlin.de/e/news.html) * Raban Ruddigkeit, Designer (http://www.ruddigkeit.de) * Fantastic Nobodies (http://thefantasticnobodies.com) Living Frame Project * Benjamin Godsill, Kurator (http://www.newmuseum.org) * Jacob Dyrenforth, Künstler * Iepe Rubingh, Künstler (http://iepe.net): 09/11 – A Better Joke? * Pecha Kucha NYC (http://www.ihpkny.com): About Pecha Kucha New York ### about the artist: What began 10 years ago as party antics and costume wearing became, in the course of a decade, via relentless Bush Era disillusionment, a highly developed and unique artistic language, if not a cult of urban legend. The Fantastic Nobodies are a cast of performance characters who have collaborated together to create remarkable fusions of art and life. Acting as reflective mirrors for each other’s creativity, the collective has fostered great breadth of production including: performance, infiltrations, social sculptures, situations, happenings, road-trips, cooking, photography, installations, video, music, poetry, painting, and drawing. about the curator: Pecha Kucha was devised by Astrid Klein and Mark Dytham (Klein Dytham architecture), was conceived in 2003 as a place for young designers to meet, network, and show their work in public. But as we all know, give a mic to a designer (especially an architect) and you’ll be trapped for hours. The key to Pecha Kucha Night is its patented system for avoiding this fate. Each presenter is allowed 20 images, each shown for 20 seconds each – giving 6 minutes 40 seconds of fame before the next presenter is up. This keeps presentations concise, the interest level up, and gives more people the chance to show. Pecha Kucha is Japanese for the sound of conversation. about the museum: Founded in 1977 by Marcia Tucker, The New Museum was chartered as a place somewhere between grassroots alternative spaces for contemporary art and major museums that show only artists of proven historical value. It is home to new art and new ideas. |
