FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Featuring: Invited artists from Newark NJ/NY Metro area as well as National and International artists, "Newark Between Us" continues to be a cultural exchange of contemporary artists throughout the world, focused especially on the new creative energy found in Newark, Williamsburg, Brooklyn, and the surrounding metro region.

This year's installation exhibition celebrates the special bond that unites a community while embracing independent voices and diversity.Reflecting the ever-present political, economic and cultural media debate, fifty contemporary artists explore the modern relationship "Between" you and me, here and there, us and them. Connected by more than a theme, the wide range of artwork offers a survey of emerging, established, and historic art, creating a conversation among rising talents representing unique viewpoints, thriving neighborhoods, current aesthetic and historical reference. The exhibit inspires discussion and reflection on the magnetic "something between" artists and the society that surrounds them. This exhibition is an opportunity to define shared moments, concepts and interactions while finding Newark as the common denominator.Curated by Rupert Ravens in conjunction with the Newark Arts Council

Sponsors: The Geraldine R. Dodge Foundation, New Jersey State Council on the Arts, City of Newark, Prudential Financial and the JP Morgan Chase Foundation.
