You Are Beautiful in conjunction with Creative Thriftshop presents You Are I Am, a project in which artists have been selected to fill blank books marked with the statement ‘You Are’ on the front and ‘I Am’ on the back. Participant responds to the statements on the front & back of the book. As the pages are filled, the line of distinction between 'You Are' & 'I Am' Blurs. 112 books have been sent out and each group was given months during which all of the pages must be filled and books must be returned to You Are Beautiful. The best pages will be selected to create a final coffee table book.
You Are Beautiful is a simple, powerful statement which is incorporated into the over absorption of mass media and lifestyles that are wrapped in our consumer culture. This statement and the context in which someone finds it gives meaning to its message and purpose to this project. The intention behind this project is to reach beyond ourselves as individuals to make a difference by creating moments of positive self realization in those who happen across the statement: You Are Beautiful.
Once the books have been returned, You Are Beautiful will showcase the returned You Are I Am Books of the 119 that have circulated around the world for the last year with an event. Visitors will be able to page through each book, showcasing thousands of artists from around the globe. The You Are I Am Books will also be on display, as the gallery will act as a reading room every Sunday for the month of August. This will give the viewer a chance to thoroughly study the amazing pages in each book.

about the host: CTS is quality art on the move. Championing provocative content driven work by local and international mid-career, underrepresented, and emerging artists in all media. Our goal is to build an infrastructure that knows no boundaries, one that carries the torch of modernism acting as a vehicle for dreamers, a cultural meeting place for great minds, an international community of interconnectivity and expandability. CTS exhibitions and artist have been touted in many local and international publications, including The New York Times, La Republica, Miami Herald, The Chicago Tribune, Art Nexus, Art Review, Art in America, Art Forum, Flash Art, NYarts Magazine, Lmagazine, Flavor Pill, Miami Art Guide, Artnet, Art Info and TimeOut New York.
