FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Barcelona is a city that welcomes leisure and diversion. Its temperate climate and Mediterranean character invites us to enjoy the streets and people. The Center of Contémporary Culture of Barcelona, (BAC) is host to the Fifth International Festival of Barcelona Contemporary Art. Multitudes of artists from the following countries around the world will be represented: Spain, Chile, France, Portugal, Italy, Venezuela, Greece, Great Britain, Guatemala, Holland, Denmark, Switzerland, Germany, Morocco, U.S.A, Mexico, El Salvador, Brazil, Russia, and, Japan. 169 in total were invited to participate in an installation exhibition, Skin of Skins, the brainchild of Mexican curator Diciembre Aguilar. CTS is proud to send artist Justine Reyes, poet Brooke Baxter and photographer Matthew Huber to participate in what promises to be an amazing event. Skin of Skin or Piel de la Piel’s proposal is that artists reflect and contribute to new visions of the skin. The human skin is cultural imaginary linen cloth of our and artistic self. It is one's creative identity. One of the functions of the skin is to communicate to the outside and then to the inverse to our very personal interior. A faithful reflection of our inner state as much at physical level as psychic. The skin is the limit of the "I" and the "others’: a coat of the spirit ### about the artist: Justine Reyes lives and works in New York. She received her BFA from Syracuse University in 2000. Reyes' work revolves around issues of identity, history and time; and our relationship to these themes in a post 9/11world. Using photography and installation, she examines family, the idea of leaving and returning home, and the longing to hold on to things that are ephemeral and transitory in nature. about the artist: Brooke Baxter is a multi media artist and poet. She co-founded The GlassLands Gallery in Williamsburg, Brooklyn in 2001 and published a book of poetry entitled Brutal Ivory. about the artist: Matthew Huber is a proffessional commerical photogragher. He attended Pratt Institute in New York City, where he often modified cameras to suit his visions. Matthew's work has appeared in Out, Nylon, Ramp, Real Simple, and Metropolitan Home. about the gallery: La Santa Proyectos Culturales is a cultural association that was founded in 1993 by Gigi R. Harrington and Juan Jose Fernandez to promote artistic endeavours that were otherwise limited to museums and galleries. La Santa aimed to create a previously inexistant space for experimental artwork. It began in an old fish market and since has relocated to a larger space that accomodates the more than 200 active afiliates and many more non-members that regularly participate and add to the artisitc integrity. about the curator: Diciembre Aguilar
